There is a media hype of a supposedly tribally-inspired rhetoric coming from Nana Addo. It bothers on a statement attributed to Nana Addo and some leading personalities in the NPP by Messr Haruna Attah, Ghana’s Ambassador to Namibia. So far only the office of Nana Addo has rubbished and debunked those wickedly lying allegations.
Mr. Haruna Attah in a press statement claimed that Nana Addo told him (ALONE ) that no non-Akan can ever lead the NPP. He added that Honourable Hackman Owusu Agyeman also told him (ALONE) that no Muslim would be voted for as president in Ghana. He then made similar accusations on Dr. Kwame Addo Kuffour, the former Defence Minister and brother to former president Kuffour.
These falsehood claims by Mr. Haruna Attah on Nana Addo and the other leading personalities of the NPP are not new or surprising to some of us. In fact, I, for example, expected this very long ago. If we all flashback a bit, we’ll hear Nana Addo warning us about the NDC November surprises. In every November of an election year, the NDC has a propaganda and lying surprise on Nana Addo and this Haruna Attah unsurprising allegations is one of them. In fact, this is the biggest lying surprise of the NDC. This is what Nana Addo was talking about. There might still be others yet to come.
Mr. Haruna Attah has spoken his mind on his own concocted cooked story. However, there are many questions begging for answers from Mr. Haruna Attah:
1. Assuming without admitting that all what Mr. Haruna Attah said are true, what prevented him from saying it since 2012 when he started campaigning for the NDC and president Mahama? Why must he wait until it was very clear that president Mahama cannot campaign on his own achievements as president of Ghana except inciting barbaric tribal sentiments? Is Mr. Haruna Attah by this justifying the very extreme and barbaric tribally-inspired politics of president Mahama and the NDC?
2. Mr. Haruna Attah as a very respected media person and a patriotic Ghanaian, knowing this very tribally-inspired nature of Nana Addo, why didn’t he kindly aid us with some audio or video evidence of their supposed conversation? I don’t think he has failed to record this damning statements from Nana Addo which had him heart broken? Why did he not openly campaigned against Nana Addo and the NPP in the 2008 elections?
3. Mr. Haruna Attah said that Nana Addo invited him over to his( Nana Addo’s) office. This is a clear admission that Nana Addo is very tolerant and open to everyone. I don’t think Haruna Attah will today want to tell us that Nana Addo invited him to his own place just to let him, Haruna Attah, know how tribal he Nana Addo is, assuming without admitting that what Haruna Attah said is the truth?
4. The late Vice-President, Aliu Mahama, had people who are pure Ashantis who supported him during his bid for the NPP flagbearership. Nana Amoako Tuffuor is one of them. So, by Haruna Attah’s logic, it was very wrong for such persons to have supported the northerner since northerners must support northerners and vice versa. Besides, such persons are today strong supporters of Nana Addo. What has he to say on that?
5. Mr. Haruna Attah isn’t the only aid or supporter of the late Vice-President Aliu Mahama. The late Mahama Adams, former Upper East Regional chairman of the NPP, was a very strong supporter of the former Vice-President. Adams Mahama was a northerner. Why didn’t he, Adams Mahama, also feel such supposed tribal bias from Nana Addo? Why and how did he become a strong supporter of not only the NPP, but Nana Addo? In fact, some sources point to the fact that his problem with suspended chairman Afoko has to do with the suspended chairman not supporting Aliu Mahama in his bid for the flagbearership of the NPP.
So, if such a dye in a wool supporter of late Aliu Mahama like the late Adams Mahama will believe in Nana Addo’s openness and tolerance, why would we discard him and believe Haruna Attah who has been working for the NDC since 2012? In any case, since when did the NDC have respect or love for the late Aliu Mahama?
6. Fiifi Kweetey said in 2007 and was captured by wikileaks that no Muslim can ever be president in Ghana. The NDC with president Mahama as both a running mate to Professor Mills and NDC MP for Bole Bamboi never condemned him or rebuked him. They instead rewarded and promoted him with different ministerial positions since they assumed office in 2009. What’s Mr. Haruna Attah’s take on that? Besides, the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, an appointee of president Mahama, claimed that those who are Muslims and in NPP are not correct Muslims.
President Mahama and his NDC party and government never condemned him or distanced themselves from that reckless statement. If my memory serves me right, the late Aliu Mahama was a Muslim and in the NPP. Does that mean his Islam is invalid? Does that mean the late Aliu Mahama and others who died as members of the NPP died a useless death? What’s Mr. Haruna Attah’s take on that?
There are many more questions one can ask but the essential thing is that this latest propaganda is irrelevant and won’t work. As Mustapha Hameed rightly said, it’s desperation that has forced some of these pathetic lies to be spewed out. Haruna Attah and Sinare leaving their ambassadorial work and coming to campaign vigorously for the NDC as a payback of their appointments is an exercise in futility.
Our minds are made up and we know that president Mahama will be voted out in the first round, In sha Allah,Muhammad despite the lies, mischief, distortions, defamations, slander and malicious propaganda against Nana Addo and other leading members of the NPP. We know we are focused on working for a change that will bring improvement in the lives and living conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian.
We know Nana Addo and Dr Bawumia and we believe in their vision for Ghana. We know Ghana will be United once again. President Mahama and the NDC can’t divide us on barbaric ethnic and tribal lines. We won’t sit down for people who are benefitting from the create, loot and share of the NDC to divide us.
I shall, In sha Allah, be back
