Most people forget about the values they are mostly exposed to and the core values they profess as their faith. One way or the other, you may find yourself in any of these bodies; Associations, Volunteer groups, Institutions, Families, Muslim Societies, Christian Societies; who will have strong core values that they wish all their constituents uphold.
The truth of the matter is that none of the ecclesiastical bodies that we belong to is established on unethical values. These bodies I am describing have gotten foundations that are worthy. Therefore, if there are bodies whose foundations are built on positive values such as Love, Peace, Integrity, Competence, Teamwork, Effectiveness, Accountability, and Fairness; then we should have people coming from all Families, Societies, and Nations who portray positive values.
This is a clarion call to all especially the youth to accept that the bodies we belong worth more than any material thing; therefore we should uphold and practice values that will make the country and the world a better place to live. It must be noted that if we continue to value money, position and power over the love we have for God and the Country, then living in the world for that matter Ghana would be very dangerous. I wish not to sound threatening, but when we ignore the menace of actions that aim at gaining money, position or power illegally for our self or for any other person, then we are creating a dangerous world.
When we develop a clean heart –a heart for God and the Country, with theaim of helping our neighbours to overcome their problems and challenges, then we tend to create a country within which life is worth-living. We live in problems; we hanker for leaders who will lead selflessly in order to engage all people to solve the problems of the country. All the past and current governments have done and are doing their best to curb some of the problems we face.
One might have expected more work-output from any of the various governments and the other might say that the work-output of the current government is up to standard.
Tolerantly, everybody is right. You might side with the latter: this does not call for unscrupulous insults on the former and vice versa. Bill Hybels has it as “Most people feel best about themselves when they have given their very best.”
Politics should not break the unity and the heritage we have as Ghanaians!
Politicians should devise healthy ways in winning power so as to have a peaceful country.
Let us all associate ourselves with the national motto of Guyana, “ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE DESTINY.” Ghana is a Peaceful Nation.
