International simply means beyond national borders but it seems the word, “International” has taken up a new meaning in the Ghana Concise Learned Dictionary.
International seems to be a word to show value, worth and wealth no wonder a private owned school is called International school even though it has not even another branch in the same region it finds itself. To many, adding “International” gives it an honourable and expensive touch. Please don’t ever get confused when you see “Mercedes International School’s sign post somewhere, please it can only be found in Bawjiase and no other place not even Kasoa and not to talk of Togo.
It sometimes becomes more saddening either than humorous when these very schools that teach students in the Queen’s language add the “International” title to their names whereas they can only be found in one vicinity. Anyway, one must dream big. Perhaps, they have dreams of establishing another one in Togo and other countries.
Mercedes International Ministries and her sisters can’t be left out of the conversation. It’s like leaving Jollof out of the menu; it’s highly impossible. Most churches have also taken on the “International” tag though they can only be found in one classroom or one vicinity.
Please don’t be confused or think too far when you see international attached to any name because International actually means area in the Ghana Concise Learned Dictionary.
