I have been following for the past few months on various campaign trails of many of the political parties within the country. To be perfectly clear most of the campaigns been carried out are not the campaigns to elaborate on the vision and plans for this country, they are but hungry campaigns from both the incumbent government and the opposition parties. Many will disagree with me, but let’s face the truth both the majority and the largest opposition parties are fighting the banana wars. Each in their campaign is claiming victory without the consent of the ordinary Ghanaian, as they would call as when they are in power.
This is one of the elections in Ghana that is most tenacious; it’s an election that would spark both unity and division within the country, if we do not settle our mind as Ghanaians to think of Mother Ghana first. I want you to make a choice; so i ask you in the face; Peace or War? Which one do we choose as a country and people; whatever choice we make, put it in mind that we would end up bearing or reaping the consequence thereof, because if political parties campaigns begin to sound like victory even before the ballot is cast, then the populace are deceived that this party has already won.
Make no mistake am not against relaying confidence in campaigns but in that moment when you preach your message don’t make your message absolute so it may sound like if you don’t win then something went wrong. Accept the verdict as it may after all we are all fighting for mother Ghana first before any other party. If you don’t like the verdict let due legal process take place and have confidence in our Rule of law. I have heard people say lots of scary things and that has propelled me to write this article to bring to your knowledge that we have only ourselves to blame not anyone if we don’t seek Peace in this election.
Watch out for one another, tell a friend to tell a friend that; the development of this nation is not dependent on some greedy politician whose main aim is to make his purse fat and make you poor.
Nelson Mandela once said; “Poverty is not an accident. Like slavery and apartheid, it is man-made and can be removed by the actions of human beings”.
He wanted us to know that whatever that we wanted to do it entails our own choice and we have the power to stop it or let it ride along to the shambles. So peace and conflict is a choice and can be stopped by man. Remind you no country is willing to take in refugees again when the inevitable could be stopped, therefore it is better to live in your country than, be a refugee in another man’s country. Those who are well to do would take their families outside the country when conflicts spark, think about those of us who have no means to go anywhere all we have is our homeland.
The trends of campaigns in Ghana is becoming a national routine, thus reflecting of the people of the country as not imaginative in anyway. Politician stand to say Ghanaians have short memories not that we have short memories but because we believe in Ghana first before any political party. If we chose to forgive it means we do not want to hold on to the past but rather to move forward. The person we chose as a nation’s President his character therefore depicts what we want in him to be. I pray this election would end in a peaceful manner but if you are out there cooking up trouble remind yourself this; conflict never solved a problem in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Nigeria, Rwanda and many more countries around the world. If nothing prompts you consider Libya, Conflict has left the country desolate once a prosperous country and the eye of Africa has now become a hunger zone, conflict only stream and fuel Poverty and Hunger leading to under-development. I stand for peace so should you. Let no one fool you; we are first Ghanaians.
Long Live Mother Ghana, Victory for Mother Ghana.
Peace in Election 2016
