As stipulated in my preview article, dubbed “The Essence of Life”, this makes more different, comprehensible and substantial clarification about the authenticities in life, even though the whole issue comprising life is indisputably a complex one. It does not exclude the smallest creature ever, whether living and non-living. It is not occurring on the earth surface alone; it includes birds in the air and fishes in the sea. In fact, every single thing in the universe fights to get the freshest breath –they want peace to be with, the most delightful food to eat, most comfortable places to sleep and finally achieve the greatest sort of protection. Then again human beings as the most serious actors in this regard and as a matter of fact my actual target in this message never stop fighting the same war, and in the more severe manner.
They fight for more wealth. This fight leaves no one untouched. People think been poor is a curse, bad luck and even a symbol for diminishing or eliminating one’s humanism. Therefore they cry a lot each day wanting to move away from nothing to something. The reason behind is that they see their colleagues riding in beautiful cars and dwelling in beautiful mansions. Every bit of their conscience influences them to take heed towards amassing much wealth and breaking the neck of poverty by all possible means, not considering whether been in a destructive or a more peaceful way. They therefore embark on killing and robbing. Very little of these people stick to the peaceful and gradual way instead; only about 30% of the world population, perhaps due to the label tagged to the opposite approach. Some people might have forgotten been rich does not make one immortal or doesn’t not make one in need of anything else anymore, anywhere, anytime. Being rich only opens a wider range of opportunities but does not open the doors to all wants. Due to this wrestle and attainment of wealth, people generate too much life ambitions, some unrealistic but they instil to acquire. Most of these ones may already have total peace of mind in their lives, even though in poverty; but they rush to embrace something they claim possesses abundant peace. As said earlier, many evil steps are taken to fulfil this desire. Furthermore, several unimaginable life circumstances crop up and perhaps dismantle the hope for long-lasting success due to our eager to get more wealth than we have.
Let’s have a clearer scenario in our day-to-day living where the much wealth we fight for could end just like that without our notice. Bank loan is requested and are eventually granted; then it is received and its usage commences immediately. There comes much hope to pay it back duly with the interest and with ease within the next couple of months. Sadly, sickness shows up and weakens the human strength. This as a result incapacitates the human system to supervise the services his subordinates give, and the other businesses, as usually done. Income starts to dwindle consequently, therefore affecting the normal regular outputs. Along the line, the little generated income has to be used in buying drugs and paying doctors for surgeries undertaken. Then the so-called trusted families and friends take advantage of the sickness and personally manipulate all the businesses and their respective accounts to their own selfish interest, pretending to be keeping things safe from harm instead. When it is time to refund the loan, one turns the mind to withdraw the non-living profit for settlement. It is then realised nothing lies in the accounts. He has been made to both consciously and unconsciously sign cheques of very huge amount of money. What’s next, the bank has gotten no other option than to cease all his left-over businesses and big mansions, which had already been captured and occupied by family members, and other properties used as collaterals. The close friends and relatives too start to depart as they start sensing strong smell of poverty closer to one’s life. Finally one comes out to meet nothing, no relative, not even one’s wife, no more close friend and no more wealth. Loneliness, hardship, poverty, loss of hope and sorrows in life then become one’s close friends and relatives –therefore making the end one’s fresh breath.
There comes a time when people become too desperate to attain wealth. They choose the dubious means since they have no strong educational background, and even with that, they prefer a faster mean. They therefore go to the extent of committing patricide and killing and taking parts of virgin girls for rituals. As accompanied by these rituals, they’re made to oblige to other strict regulations – sleeping in the cemetery, eating from the open dump, sleeping with mad women, not sleeping with average-minded women for the rest of their lives and finally not sleeping at night forever. It is interesting and unbelievable however that whatever they’re in search for wouldn’t last forever, why then worry so much. They halt the joy in sleeping in their comfortable rooms at night and taking meals in their clean plates. They get their money as they think is their sort of fresh breath but never live in peace thereafter. As their penalties for going contrary to the set of rules and obligations regarding the rituals, some go mad or get very fatal accidents and consequently end their lives. The use of unlimited amount of money does not even last for years, left alone forever.
Other people, especially the bachelors and spinsters actually do not see wealth as a source of fresh breath. They anticipate unlimited amount of fresh breath in marriage instead. This is because they see it as the solution to their indefinite life problems. For example they anticipate infinite joy from living with the opposite sex for the first time and for the rest of their lives. They also anticipate fresh breath as in giving birth to children where they can send them to places instead of they themselves walking all around every time and finally the privilege of calling themselves “Mothers” and “Fathers” or “Mr” and “Mrs”. They also see marriage as the great sort of respect and independence from their parents. They also foresee nice package of pleasure but all these do not last forever. First of all the hope of giving birth in marriage becomes a mirage to some people; some for years and others forever. With some, they give birth with ease and hope of having everlasting happiness with their kids afterwards. With time, some parents become tired with their children’s unlimited demands as in nutrition, clothing and mostly in education. They become despaired and frustrated as situations gets tougher and finally regret for giving birth to two or more. Husbands begin to blame wives and vice versa. Couples fight and thus lead to legal arrest while children on the other side stop paying focused to commands. It hence leads to loss of respect from one another. The way of living between couple and children becomes unusual –no trust for each other anymore, no more love. Things turn around, sounding like they weren’t those people who took marriage as a sort of fresh breadth. To some other rich parents who have no monetary difficulties, their children become arrogant and very stubborn not to parents alone but to others. To some, it leaves to them severe headache despite their wealth. Our ladies are more vulnerable in such incidence. –Fresh breath does not last forever.
When we were children our major wish was to grow up into adults so as to be free from extensive control. We could project wide openness and less cohesion in adulthood, but never realised that they only have temporal stay in our lives. It is true that adulthood gives one the liberty to work and earn wages and salaries and decisions towards personal live and the use of such monies remains a personal responsibility. For example, whether been a male or female, the person decides on whom to take as an ordinary friend, an intimate friend and for how long to be with such fellow. More so, been adult gives one the opportunity to influence parents’ decisions. But let us not forget that all these opportunities just live in specific duration and leave with time. First and foremost, the young ones look up for the older ones for financial support particularly. There may be a strong financial difficulties where even affording only a two square meals seems impossible, not talking about money for water bills, light bills, hospital bills and all the bills. You start to face the realities in life –failure, strong hardship, disappointment and several inconsistencies. One therefore could feel and reflect the joy in childhood, and then regret his state as an adult. To the rich, they become more pressurised to do certain things one had never thought of and be faced with strong blows of suspicions, accusations and hatred, greed and selfishness from parents, nieces, brothers and sisters, friends and enemies and pretenders for trials. It’s more serious because each day adds pains and complexity to the very existing ones. Do you think there is an unending delight in adulthood?
On the more note, people in elsewhere around the globe foresee migrating or better still traveling to better places as the finest remedy to achieve their freshest breath. A typical instance is the extreme enthusiasm of Africans to migrate to Europe. It is interesting yet unbelievable to note that most of these people go to face worse situations as compared to the previews times in their own countries and regions. There come lack of employment, shelter, hence lack of money for months and years. They sleep under bridges, in rickety structures and beneath vehicles and earn no form of assistance from anywhere. To some only God become their last hope. They’re taken as slaves and nonentities when they’re found by actual habitants and that they are inhumanly manipulated. These ones wished to have stayed at their homes for the rest of their lives. Their exit from these so-called rich destinations becomes a severe headache and is the same as they try to persevere and move ahead. It is a sorry situation looking at how people consider others “at the top” especially at those at Western countries as if they hold eternal life. On the contrary, travelling to a different region and country only offer you the opportunity to see and leave in different atmosphere for a while. The next thing is that these ones cry for fortune, fortune in business, fortune in their footsteps and fortune in their very existence over there. They begin to tell their sad stories to those behind them.
After they have seen pains for a long while and successfully losing the interest in things and people behind, they begin to value employment as a “whole saviour”. This is so obvious in every level of human growth –seeking for employment. But, dear reader, is that a whole saviour? After completing the secondary cycle, they think affording to rent a room and perhaps living in total privacy with their basic life demands makes it all. A lot of people, especially from African are pushed by side forces to fine job in order to enjoy fresh breadth in life and to escape from such breath which makes life unbearable. Their wives blame them to be “lazy” and “irresponsible” towards their duties since house-keeping money is not provided regularly. These wives and other relatives believe their well-to-do partners, when being gainfully employed will salvage their problems and bring home eternal happiness. Now upon their partners getting employed, they no longer get time for their wives and families. They suffer to free themselves from problems at work. Even with regard to job, higher priority is placed on some at the expense of others. This makes the youth fight hard to be at the higher rank because they think it is with that they can afford going to the beaches, to the big restaurants and boutiques with the families and then build the big companies and buy the hottest cars. Most at times schedules both at home and at work places conflict which results in less concentration at work places. Managers and directors start to act by dismissing them for they have contributed to their lower profit earnings. Colleague workers are randomly reappointed and promoted but one’s chance never turns up but stands still. This creates into one’s mind a lot of frustrations and consequently plan of setting up one’s own business. You may move to meet worse things!
This reminds me of a gentleman, Clement, whom I had worked with for quite a long time before leaving for my university education. He was never content with our salary each time we receive it. The problem was affecting me the more but I kept on calming my friend to make do with it. He later decided to move to a sister international school who had gained more popularity as compared to ours. He was fortunate even though to be admitted on the basis of him been a teacher before, but never stayed happy than before. According to him, there was an extra length of supervision of teachers on duty which was very minimal and more convenient at his previous school. This made him underperformed since he hardly worked under pressure. He had also gotten no or very limited opportunity to absent himself from school even with formal permission. Moreover, he was denied the full payment of teachers’ weekly allowance as in line with the school’s rules for new employees. Aside all these, he had a monthly payment which as compared to his previous school, there was a very marginal difference –less than 2%. The whole image is people of today’s world picture every community from a distance as “Paradise”; but we notice how ugliest it is when we draw closer. You’ve got only dumping words to utter after realising our mistakes –Had I know! Full of regret but have no opportunity to turn things around by then.
Another unique and precious God-made gift for mankind –good health is a different thing which has successfully trapped global concern. From the start of the world, most people put excess emphasis on the relevance of attaining good health as what man need to be happy until death. They put that on top of wealth, children, positions and other stuff. Yes, it is real attaining good health is relevant, but no matter what, it does not live with man forever. Let’s consider this true life experience. Even as one is immediately discharged from the hospital he is discharged with a lot of pills, accompanied by injections and he’s further asked to purchase other drugs from the store; at the same time he’s prohibited from taking certain foods and undertake certain activities for a while or forever. This means that after a long attendance and diagnoses whatsoever, the doctors still perceive re-occurrence of some ailments in the person’s system, implying that good health as seen today may not be seen tomorrow. Adding to that, full cap of water is fetched and put beside meals to prevent troubles when eating. People run to escape hit of vehicles, even mere downpour of rain and wind. They all do that because they think they may miss their precious thing –Good Health. As we get good health, it gets to a time in human life where we become naturally sick and extremely feeble. Common handling of objects, not even objects with the lightest weight, becomes extremely difficult and even at times impossible. Taking steps to places become problematic. Likewise common talking and attending to the washroom becomes a trouble. A lot more to say, indicating that whether the heart desires or not, not the amount of money to spend, not friendly or unfriendly the world is to you, not how much wealthy you are, fresh breath never last forever.
It is neither in education. The world has successfully hailed the flag of education as the unforgettable champion in building a nation. In other words, it makes people live with ease and until one dies. Virtually this has kept each and every person at the doors of education, knocking with their highest strength in search for its access. People lament with their greatest passion and loudest voices when denied admission to the secondary and tertiary cycle. Should it be the case at all? No, education does not completely give one an everlasting happiness to individuals who secure it. If one still persist, then I’ve got a couple of questions demanding for answers: why someone I was attending the same university with committed suicide after getting a lesser grade he never expected? Why again students leave their university education for abroad, not to continue but to seek for greener pastures? These and many other questions. Were these not holding the so-called education before, even to the highest level? You realise it even destructs at times, consider my first question. How much did they value them and how much was it beneficial to them at the end? My dear reader, what we call fortunate is not always alive with man.
The main point I want to make here is that most people blindly follow steps of people who may one way or the other has succeeded in their endeavours. These partially blind ones wrestle hard with every little breath of theirs in order to get the same or something better. They should remember that no matter how large or many it is, it is never meant to live with us forever. As I’ve said earlier, most people live in deception as we see it from behind as something Big. Greed then take the lead of us, taking us to a more dangerous place where we can no more escape from unnecessary things in life. We’re hence pushed to act unnecessarily by any little force.
Both knowingly and unknowingly, people funnily had become so disrespectful and rude towards others since these ones do not possess properties. Lucky ones are those who have read and understood this my message today, realising that your possessions may not be yours someday, your pleasure may turn to sorrow, you may not leave to hold your degree certificate and to see that your dream husband or wife the next day. You can’t predict the next minute you’ll lose your good health or breath. Upon knowing this, just give; give out to those who seek in humility without several thoughts, if you can. However, since we cannot cease nourishing ourselves we therefore cannot stop seeking and fighting for. How do we seek for it then? Seeking should be in a modest and the finest manner, despite the fact it will take longer time to accomplish. This is because you enjoy every bit of your benefits all alone, why then hurt someone else in course of your search for it? Search in peace and always feel encouraged when failure comes. Never be too worried, for it may be for your own good.
Life is precious. It is only life that starts and last forever with us, and gives us the sweetest part of life. Whatever we physically fight for has gotten an expiry date. Now we can see and imagine the facts of the demands we seek for ourselves. That’s it. We simply need to be grateful for whatever life offers us because our aspirations may not necessary be our possessions, and even if they be, remember they are never meant to stay forever.
