“To err is human” goes a wise saying; another says that “As you point a finger to criticise someone, three of your fingers point at you;” and another also says, “Too much of everything is bad.”
At a time that I wanted to see an agenda for accelerated integration of all races in America, what I find rather is incessant condemnation of Whites and discriminatory attitudes for their discrimination and wickedness against Blacks in the past and real or perceived ones nowadays! The latter have so filled their minds with this that even a cough from a White is likely to be interpreted as racial discrimination!
Yes I have a good reason to be peeved, because if nothing at all this discrimination bit is frowned on everywhere described as modern in our world and fortunately spelled out clearly in the Constitution of the United States of America! Thanks to their education for all citizens and their one language policy, almost everybody can read and understand their constitution and laws.
African-Americans (Blacks) who are thinking and acting positively should be applying this constitutional provision as equal citizens of the USA, to adfress issues. How on earth will the constant reminder of the past help resolve a wrongful killing or molestation of a Black by a White American for example, if Black lawyers and the endowed who can help deal with it, continue to watch unconcerned!
There is nothing wrong with learning a history, and nothing wrong with reminding ourselves occasionally about history; but to constantly make history one’s source of information is choosing to remain in the past! I am sure America with all its progressive mindset and programs is not opting for stagnation or backward movement; I stand for correction though, if they are,
For the sake of discussion, and assuming that America is seeking to backtract and live in the past, what about you and your choice; do you want to move forward or backwards? If you chose the latter, then you may continue to lambast past White Americans in what you cannot change, or present Americans for offences they did not commit! The forward-looking Blacks should behave as Americans and deal with problems wiyh today’s tools and contribute their quotas to develop America, their country. I cannot help admiring the American policy that one unconditionally becomes an American citizen once they are born there; something which even many underdeveloped nations do not endorse!
The American system has been a model in democracy that other nations of the Global Village (which I want to refer to as GLOBAVILLE) are copying; as a Truth Advocate, it is incumbent on me to bring it up for discussion, since it has become fundamental to real freedom that is essential for genuine integration for peace and development in the USA and any part of Globaville.
