Some folks think I am a hypocritical fan of Sarkodie, mainly because I sometimes chastise him in my writings and more orally. Hey, I am a fair-minded follower of Sarkodie, and I believe he needs such followers like me to be a bit impartial while we rally our unflinching support for his formidable career. In fact, Sarkodie is my number one role model in the world today. Come on, you read it right. Mark Zuckerberg, Aliko Dangote, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Donald Trump, Lionel Messi, Tom Cruise, and a few others are all my topmost role models. Yet Sarkodie, the acclaimed African rap god, remains Sir Article’s number one role model on earth. I once declared in an article a year ago that Sarkodie is the human being who inspires me most on earth today. And the following 5 great reasons will prove why I have kept slobbering over Sarkodie.
(1) Sarkodie is one of Ghana’s foremost brands on the international stage:
Ghana may be regarded as a tiny country in the West African sub-region of sub-Saharan Africa, but it has huge recognition in the global music industry because of Sarkodie’s overwhelming exploits. He is no doubt the leading face of Ghana music the world over, and that has made him one of Ghana’s foremost brands on the international stage. His powerful music career has actually projected the name of Ghana into global recognition, particularly in the music fraternity worldwide.
(2) Sarkodie is one true hustler:
Who is a hustler? A hustler is not just an extremely wretched person who seems to be accursed. No, a hustler in the world of talent is a person who really experiences sickening challenges in his pursuit of success. And Sarkodie was simply a hustler in that sense. He started off as a promising rapper who was perceived as the underdog in Ghana’s rap game. He suffered numerous rejections, discouragements, disappointments etc. for years, but he pressed ahead with his burning ambition to become a very successful musician. Indeed, his hustling attitude is worthy of emulation by Ghanaian youths.
(3) Sarkodie has really defied the odds:
This is my most favourite reason since it actually motivates me as a writing entrepreneur in Ghana. When Sarkodie began rapping in Twi and aimed at going global with his indigenous rap music, most people were sceptical of his seemingly unrealistic aspirations. This is because they thought that Ghanaian rap, especially in Twi, was not marketable on the international music arena. But Sarkodie proved all the sceptics wrong by becoming Ghana’s most financially successful rapper with massive international reputation. I will definitely do same as a very promising Ghanaian writer.
(4) Sarkodie is an incredibly passionate talent:
There is no truly successful person with international prominence today who lacks extreme passion for his/her potential. Successful folks became successful by dint of rare passion to a large extent. And any talented individual who has low or moderate passion for his talent is certainly bound to stagnate or even fail. Yes, Sarkodie, who is a talented Ghanaian rapper, has always been incredibly passionate about rap music. No wonder he describes himself as a studio rat — only extremely passionate musicians can say that. And he is more passionate about rap than anything else. That is how I live daily as a young writer.
Sarkodie is undoubtedly the African rapper with the highest number of awards. He has won more than 50 awards in just five years. That is absolutely fascinating and simply unprecedented. Sarkodie has done unthinkable things as an African rapper which most of his competitors only wish for. His mind-boggling achievements are a great proof of his peerless abilities as an African rapper. So I call him the greatest Ghanaian musician of all time and the biggest African rapper at the moment. His achievements actually back them up.
