Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, Kwabena Mensah Woyome, has welcomed the suspension of Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzide over the Commonwealth Games visa scandal.
While commending the President Akufo-Addo for the decision, Mr. Woyome said the suspension however does not bring a closure to the visa racketeering for some 60 persons including fake journalists and athletes.
Speaking on ‘Ghana Dadwen’ on Onua FM Thursday, Mr. Woyome said despite independent investigation into the matter is necessary.
“All we are asking for is nothing but a true and transparent investigation into the matter, including the profiling of the people involved to the people of Ghana. We don’t want a situation whereby some people would be used as scapegoats”, he told host of the show Nana Yaw Opare.
Meanwhile, the deputy Sports Minister’s Personal Assistant, Asafo Adjei, insisted on his boss is innocent and that at the truth would come out to vindicate him at the right time.
The “deputy minister is willing and ready to subject himself to any form of investigations” he said.
