About 2,000 employees from various institutions in Ashanti region have benefitted from a free health screening exercise as part of activities to commemorate this year’s May Day celebrations; a day set aside to celebrate workers.
The exercise, which was organized by Ray Ben Laboratories and Imaging with sponsorship from GOIL, offered participants the opportunity to check their wellbeing and improve on it.
Beneficiaries who thronged the Adum Post Office and the Kumasi Jubilee Park were screened for hepatitis B, diabetes, cholesterol level, and blood pressure among others.
The middle belt zonal manager of GOIL, Stephen Ernest Asare, said having realised the poor attitude of most workers towards occasional medical checkup, they decided to partner Ray Ben Laboratories to organise the free health screening.
“Most of us overburden ourselves with work throughout the year without finding time to check out health status and know whether we are suffering from any disease. This shortens our life span. We think it is necessary support in the organization of free health screening to offer people the opportunity know their state of health” he saod.
Mr Ernest Asare added that his outfit intends extending the free health screening exercise to the various lorry terminals across the country to offer eye screening to drivers as a measure to reducing carnages on our roads.
