Woman injured at Akropong during the final funeral rite of the late Queenmother of Okuapeman
A women has been injured at Akropong on Friday during final funeral rite of the late Paramount Queenmother of Okuapeman, Nana Dokua at Akropong -Akuapem in the Eastern region.
The victim was hit at storey building by scattered pellets from musketry display by musketeer following a chief to the funeral ground.
The Victim, Ama Darkwa, 39, has been hospitalized at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital whiles the suspect has been arrested by the Akropong District Police.
Firing of musketry has been part and parcel of all festive occasions and funeral rites involving chiefs, especially during festivals.
However, the Eastern regional Security Council banned firing of musketry of musketry and firearms in 2013 when one person was killed and two others injured in shooting incident during the Akropong Odwira Festival that year.
Speaking to Ultimate news, the Akropong District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kofi Adu confirmed the story to Ultimate news adding that, the suspect has been arrested and in police custody assisting in investigations .
The Police Commander ,explained that,the suspect was not part of musketeers presented by the Funeral committee , trained and authorized by Police to use musketry during the funeral .
