The boxer was captured in some photos making rounds on social media, standing by the brand new white saloon car.
This report greatly drew the attention of many Ghanaians, especially as Banku recently made news following his disgraceful defeat to former amateur boxing team captain, Samir Bastie in a bout.
A large section of the public could not help but ask why Banku was given a car despite his defeat. It wasn’t just about the defeat, Banku’s new car also called to mind the boxer’s extensive bragging prior to the defeat; an unpleasant episode which also made rounds in the media.

Bukom Banku had bragged about beating his opponent in the sixth round, among many other things prior to the fight.
However, he suffered a humiliating defeat to Bastie Samir in the cruiserweight non-title bout held at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra on the night of Saturday, October 21.
For some, Banku’s defeat and excessive bragging were enough for him to get nothing from fans and stakeholders.
But, the CEO of EIB Network did not subscribe to this notion. Bola Ray against all odds still deemed it fit to honor the controversial boxer with a brand new car.
According to reports, the dramatic boxer was promised by the former Joy FM Drive Time show host ahead of his bout with Bastie Samir.
Banku was promised a car by Bola Ray before losing in the much-publicised bout. And so, the EIB boss kept his word honored his promise.
It was the third round and Banku who bragged about beating his opponent in the sixth round was brought to his knees after Bastie served him with a heavy blow which shattered his stamina.
Banku subsequently struggled to complete the subsequent rounds as Bastie’s jabs proved to have what it takes to draw the remaining energy out of him.
The 37-year-old was completely defeated in the 7th Round after another punch landed him on the floor, leaving the referee, Roger Banner with no option but to end the bout.
