The left-footed player has announced his return to Ghana’s national team, boosting the country’s slim hopes of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Asamoah made this announcement at the 2017 Calcio Trade Ball, an event which brings together all Ghanaian players based in Italy. The program put together by football agent Oliver Arthur’s ArthurLegacy Sports and the Italian embassy in Ghana which seeks to deepen the existing cultural exchange and business relationship between the two countries.

The Juventus player Asamoah has been out of the Black Stars for almost three years after asking the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for a time off. During his time away from the team, the GFA had had meetings with Kwadwo to get him to rescind his decision -all to no avail.
Kwadwo Asamoah’s return comes at a time when the country is in dire need of a breakthrough in football. As the Black Stars seek to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be played in Cameroon, the team looks forward to Kwadwo’s return which is hoped to take Ghana’s team to a new level.

The new squad which excluded Newcastle United star Christian Atsu, had both national and international call-ups. While Kwadwo Asamoah’s name was not mentioned in the squad, the player’s announcement might mean a late inclusion into the already set-up squad. However, that is left for authorities to decide.
Kwadwo Asamoah’s injuries kept him out of action for about two years. The midfielder has regained his fitness and helped Juventus to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League. Kwadwo has over the years sustained scores of injuries which has caused him to stay off the pitch for some time.
The 28-year-old has been injured 5 times in a row from 2013 to 2016. These injuries have forced the Ghanaian out of the fields making him miss games for both Ghana and his club Juventus. Although he has been back at club level for two years, he held off on a return to the national team.
But Asamoah says he is now ready to return to the Black Stars revealing the reasons for his reluctance after recovering from the career-threatening injury.
The Black Stars restored the hope of Ghanaians following their 5-0 smashing of Ethiopia on Sunday at the start of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Asamoah’s return will further boost the fans’ confidence in the Black Stars who have already revived the spirit of the team resulting in a blistering display on June 11, 2017.
Kwadwo plays as a left midfielder, left wing-back or as an offensive central midfielder for Italian club Juventus and the Ghana national football team. The 28-year-old began his professional career with Italian club Udinese in 2008, where his consistent performances earned him a transfer to Juventus in the year 2012.
Kwadwo is primarily known for his pace, strength, stamina, and his outstanding technical characteristics, which includes his ability to read the game.
