The long anticipated fulfillment of a flagship promise made by the President prior to his election is set to materialize soonest. The NPP’s flagship policy popularly termed “One District One Factory” will be launched on Friday, August 25, at Ekumfi in the Central Region.
The event will be the formal launch of the implementation of the One District One Factory policy in fulfillment of a pledge by President Akufo-Addo to see the actualization of the industrialization of Ghana as part of the transformation process he envisages for the country.
A statement signed by the National Coordinator of the policy, Gifty Ohene Konadu, said the launch of the program will be in fulfillment of the president’s pledge to industrialize Ghana’s economy.

The event will include a sod-cutting to begin the construction of the Ekumfi Fruit Processing Company factory which will process pineapples for the local and international market. Currently, the company cultivates the fruit and seeks to expand its operations into processing.
The one factory one district policy was one of the new government’s flagship promises ahead of their massive victory in the December 2016 elections. Prior to the elections, President Nana Addo had promised to establish a factory in every district across the country.
This according to him was part of his plan to create jobs and reduce unemployment among the youth.
The promise, however, was followed by a huge backlash from the opposition and other government stakeholders who questioned the possibility and feasibility of the policy.
But the policy seems to have thrived against all odds as the government plans on launching its implementation.
Earlier in January, the government said the policy implementation will be achieved in collaboration with private investors. A special organization government said, will be set up specifically for the policy implementation.
The implementation of the 1 district 1 factory policy will indeed be a huge achievement for the President and his party. Nana Addo also seeks to prove to Ghanaians that his word is truly his bond.
