Former President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that his daughter, Farida was pleased after she learned her father lost 2016 Presidential elections.
Mr Mahama who delivered a graduation speech on the theme, “Challenges of democracy and development in Africa at the Institute for Security Studies in Nigeria said being a president kept him from spending quality time with his family and he could sometimes live a whole week without seeing his daughter while living under the same roof.

“My daughter, Farida, who had gone to school in the morning arrived in the afternoon. She found me lying in bed which was unusual because when I was President we could go a whole week without seeing each other,” he said.
“She leaves the house early in the morning to be able to get to school on time, by which time I probably had not gotten out of bed. She gets back home late afternoon and I am in the Office and I get back in the night when she is asleep. So, we could go the whole week without seeing each other. For the first time, she came back from school and there I was lying on my bed and watching television.
“She asked me, ‘Daddy, didn’t you go to the Office? I said ‘No, don’t you remember that I handed over to President Akufo-Addo yesterday.’ She said OK; so it means you are not going to the Office anymore? I said ‘No, I have no Office to go to.’ And she said, ‘then I am happy! She added, ‘so will I be coming home from school and meeting you in the house? I said yes and she said, ‘then I am very happy that you lost the elections!”
Recall that the Eastern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Bismark Taiwan Boateng has endorsed Mahama to lead the party again in 2020 general elections as their flag bearer despite the abysmal performance at the 2016 polls.
According to Mr Taiwan, the visions and policies that the former president laid down during his tenure, such as the E- block schools, water supply projects, asphalted roads, electricity and others indicates that he was a selfless man.

He expressed confidence that Mahama followed the footsteps of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to transform the nation through developmental projects and for that matter should be given another chance.
“For me, we are democratic so if any NDC stalwart comes and contests for the flagbearership, I don’t have a problem, but he who fetches water cracks the pot. John Dramani Mahama has fetched the water and cracked the pot, we should let him go and fetch the water again because we have to cook our food,” Taiwan said.
