UEW -Education is a determinant factor for any society’s growth. For any society to survive in the contemporary world, education is highly essential and necessary, especially at the lower level.
This notion and more formed the basis on which the University of Education Winneba (UEW) was founded in the early 90s.
To be specific, the school was founded in 1992 as a non-profit public higher education institution and was established in the suburban setting of the medium-sized town of Winneba.

The University of Education Winneba is a coeducational higher education institution which offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees, bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.
There are more facts to be emphasized.
To shed more light on the history of this noble institution; UEW was established in 1992 as a University College under PNDC Law 322.
It remained this way until in 2004 when the University of Education Act, Act 672 was enacted, to upgrade the status of the University College of Education of Winneba to the status of a full University.
This simply means that the University which was once a college of education was upgraded that year to a fully accredited university. This upgrade saw all the training colleges in the institution joined together under one umbrella – the University of Education.
As an aspiring student of UEW, it is necessary for an individual to know the school’s aims and objectives to enable him have a good knowledge of what is expected of him in the course of his program.

-To provide higher education and foster a systematic advancement of the science and the art of teacher education:
-To train tutors for the colleges of education and other tertiary institutions:
-To provide teachers with professional competence for teaching in pre-tertiary institutions such as preschool, basic, senior secondary school and nonformal education institutions: and
-To foster the links between the schools and the community in order to ensure the holistic training of teachers.

Ask no further because we have all the answers.
UEW has twenty-nine academic departments and centers, seven faculties. It also has 18 distance education regional study centers across Ghana.
The school operates from four (4) campuses:- the Colleges of Technical Education located at Kumasi, the College of Agriculture Education, Located at Mampong, the College of Languages Education, Located at Ajumako and the Winneba Campus where the main administration is also located.
For each of the campuses, there are different courses offered.
Two faculties; Faculty of Agriculture Education, and the Faculty of Science and Environment Education are found in this campus.
Here you find the College of Technology Education made up of the Faculty of Business Education, Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education and the Faculty of Education and Communication Sciences.
The Ajumako campus is the home of the college of Languages Education where you find the Department of Akan-Nzema Education, Ewe Education, Ga–Dangme Education of The Faculty of Languages Education.
This is the main campus of the university, the home of the school’s main administration. This campus is the home of Faculty of Social Sciences Education, as well as Institutes and schools. The central Administration of the University is located at the South Campus. The Winneba Campus hosts the following Faculties, Schools, Institute, Centers and Offices;
