President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated the opportunity available to Ghanaians “to realize our potential as the Black Star of Africa”.
In his Ramadan message to Muslims on Saturday, May 27, the president expressed belief that “the principles that Ramadan seeks to inculcate in Muslims are important for realizing this objective”.
Muslims in most parts of the world on Saturday began the religious rite of fasting.
“I send fraternal greetings to Muslims in Ghana and around the world on the occasion of the Ramadan fast,” President Akufo-Addo said in his statement.
He associated with the “intense devotion and commitment to the principles of love, sacrifice, and dedication to duty” in the month of Ramadan.
“I pray that in this month and beyond, we strive to live by these values, so that, even beyond Ramadan, we continue to commit ourselves to the good of humankind and our fellow Ghanaians.”
The fasting is scheduled to end on June 24, 2017.
“I wish all Muslims the best of the month.”
