The West Mamprusi District Chief Executive nominee, Abu Mohammed has been confirmed despite earlier protest against his nomination.
As a replacement to Saaka Sayuti who was earlier rejected by members of the assembly, he polled 39 out of 42 valid votes cast which represented 93%.
The Minister underscored the need for residents of the area to give the DCE maximum support to serve their interest.
Abu Mohammed thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and promised them good governance.
“I look forward to building a healthy working relationship with all stakeholders who share in my vision or contribution towards realizing the dreams and aspirations of the citizens of West Mamprusi.”
“I shall work to consolidate and further deepen the unity that ever existed in this august assembly and let me state that the development agenda of this district is tied to the overall vision and policy direction of the government which is geared towards addressing the key socio-economic challenges of Ghanaians.”
“I pray and hope that we shall cooperate in a spirit of togetherness and for peace and development.”
President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo was compelled to nominate Abu Mohammed following the previous DCE nominee, Saaka Sayuti’s rejection by assembly members.
The situation provoked some rampaging youth of the governing party who vandalized the constituency office.
So far, 24 out of the 26 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Northern Region have Chief Executives.
The DCE nominees for Bunkprugu/Yunyoo and the Tolon districts are yet to be confirmed.
