Spokesperson of the deceased former Black Stars coach, Herbert Obuobi Addo, Philip Addo, has debunked reports that the family has rejected a state funeral.
The late Herbert Addo, who is expected to be buried on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Aburi, Eastern Region, won the Ghana Premier League five times with four different clubs, a historic feat that is yet to be broken.
In an exclusive interview with Starr Sports, Mr. Philip Addo dismissed the assertion that a section of the Addo family are refusing an offer from the sports ministry and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to honour the departed trainer with a befitting burial.
“This does not represent the whole truth; it is just the representation of a handful of the entire Addo family led by his recent wife, Gifty Acquah, because she did not consult me (Philip Addo) because I led a delegation to the GFA and the Sports Ministry,” the family spokesperson confirmed.
“We (the family) had never turned down offers made by both the Ministry and the GFA”, he added.
The legendary Addo lost his life at the 37 Military Hospital after a short illness on March 24th, 2017.
