A Ghanaian Bishop domiciled in the U. S.A, Bishop Kofi Adonteng Boateng, has once again exhibited his philantrophic attributes, when he paid fully for the surgical intervention of a 7-month-old baby boy Nhyira Ampofo who had been diagnosed of sublingual cyst.
The donation for the surgery was done at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, in the presence of the mother, doctors and nurses of the Hospital and representative of Bishop Adonteng Boateng in Ghana. The child was also given some clothing and huge money amidst several other benefits from Bishop Adonteng and the church members.
Bishop Kofi Adonteng Boateng, the founder and head pastor of Divine Word International Ministry in Virginia, U. S.A and his congregation came to the aid of little Nhyira Ampofo when his story was published in the dailies.
A maxilla facial surgeon of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Dr. Dominic Avogo who estimated the cost of the surgery said the mother Christina Ametepe, who is a single parent, could not meet the cost of the operation upon combing through several institutions and organizations for financial assistance which turned out to be a failure.
Madam Ametepe said the baby had a swelling in the mouth that interfered with his breathing and breast feeding and as swelling progressed the breathing became more difficult to the point of gasping for breath.
The child was already past the expiry timeline for an immediate intervention to correct the abnormality which comes with dire consequences if left untreated.
It is in this vein that the timely benevolent act of Bishop Adonteng Boateng and his members cannot go without absolute commendation from all well-meaning Ghanaians.
This singular act of beneficence will go a long way to save a life which will have a huge impact on the country in future, because who knows who little Nhyira will grow to be in future.
It will be recalled that Bishop Adonteng Boateng rushed to Ghana to support the family and victims of the Kintampo waterfall disaster with huge sums of dollars and several other items when the national tragedy occurred with the loss of over eighteen lives and severally injured.
Bishop Adonteng Boating admonished women who get pregnant to endeavor to attend ante-natal clinics to avoid the incidence of pediatric deformations.
He also opined that he and the congregation will from time to time come to the aid of little Nhyira to ensure that he is well taken care of for his future to be secured because no one knows the future God has ordained for little Nhyira.
