Two persons have been picked up in a police cum military operation in Bimbilla in connection with Thursday’s deadly shootings.
The suspects are Abdulai Kasim, 45, and Wumbei Mohammed, 40.
The two were arrested following a two hour dawn operation on Saturday January 13, 2018 by the officers who arrived in the town from Tamale, the Northern Regional capital at about 2am.
Sporadic shooting at about 9:30pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 led to the death of three persons and seven others who were critically injured.
Victims receiving treatment at the hospital mentioned the names of four suspects to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
Two of them were subsequently arrested by the squad.
The remaining two suspects Alhassan Mobila, 45, and Alhassan Hardi, 25, are on the run.
Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Security Committee (REGSEC) after an emergency meeting Friday, January 12, 2018 has reviewed the curfew hours in Bimbilla township from 6pm to 6am.
Curfew hours in Bimbilla for about six months have been between 10pm to 5am.
