A seven-year-old girl has met her untimely death after a truck fully-loaded with frozen fish ran into a building killing her instantly at Senya Breku in the Central Region.
District Police Commander of Senya Breku, ASP Mathew Amponsem who confirmed the incident to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said the Cape Coast-bound truck failed its breaks, veered off the road and crashed into the building killing the girl on the spot.
The incident, ASP Amponsem said occurred around 7 pm Wednesday night when the little girl was standing in front of the building by the road side.
He added that the driver and one other person in the truck also sustained severe injuries in the process.
“The driver of the truck failed breaks and lost control to the other side of the street and as a result crushed the little girl who was standing in front of a building by the roadside ready to cross the road.
“The conductor of the bus jumped out of the car trying to stop the car manually but failed. He sustained some degree of minor injuries and was discharged some hours later after being sent to the hospital” ASP Amponsem said.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue while the driver is receiving treatment at the Senya Health Centre.
