Toyota Land Cruiser Gone Missing At Trade Ministry

If the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, could be remembered as one of the best ministers of Nana Akufo-Addo’s government, then he has to put in place a well thought out plan to find the Ministry’s Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GT 3505 Y which has gone missing since 2013.

The said vehicle has a market value of GHC 68,000.

The key to the vehicle as well as the vehicle’s Forms ‘A’ and ‘C’ are all missing. None of the documents of the said vehicle are on file.

A report of the Auditor-General on the Public Accounts of Ghana on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for the financial year ended December 31, 2015, sighted by Kasapafmonline.com indicates that the said vehicle got missing from the yard of the Ministry of Trade & Industry on December 20, 2015.

The theft, this portal understands, was reported to the Police on January 7, 2014.

According to the report, a three man Committee set up by management to investigate the theft came up with eleven recommendations, prominent amongst them was for management to value the vehicle and surcharge the drivers and security men with the cost.

However, none of the recommendations have been implemented as at the time of the audit in September 2015.

Kasapafmonline.com is well informed that management could not implement the Committee’s recommendation to surcharge the suspects with the cost of the vehicle for feared that there could be legal implications.

Nevertheless, the Auditor-General wants the management of the Ministry to pursue the police to intensify their investigations and also write to the DVLA to ascertain whether ownership had been transferred.

It still insists that management should implement the Committee’s recommendations in order to save the State from spending huge sums of money to replace the said vehicle.
