Otumfuo’s Welcome -Loyalists of the New Patriotic Party were at the Kumasi airport on Thursday to welcome Otumfuo Osei Tutu II from his trip to Brazil.
Business activities came to a halt as scores of residents in the Kumasi Metropolis lined up on the streets to wave at the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II when he touched down at the Kumasi Airport on Thursday.
Despite the negative reports about the Monarch which made rounds in the media, Otumfuo’s welcome saw tons of supporters who hailed as he stepped down from the aircraft.
However, the media was still out to do their job as the press greeted the crew with lots of questions. Otumfuo’s Mawerehene, Baffour Osei Brentuo Hyiaman V, has said the Asantehene and the Manhyia Palace are not ready to respond to stories that emerged while he was away.
He also said the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has never responded to such issues and was not ready to respond to the recent one.

It was a crusade of supporters at the Kumasi Airport amidst singing and drumming. Otumfuo was taken through the principal streets of the metropolis and was finally taken to the Manhyia Palace.
The Telegraph on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, reported that the Asentehene in August 2016, summoned one Mark Frank Arthur, a senior executive staff of the Ghana International Bank (GHIB), to his residence in Henley-on-Thames in the UK and handed him a bag containing £199,9600 as well as $200,000 with consecutive serial numbers.
However, the subsequent deposit of the cash at the Ghana International Bank triggered a money laundering alert in the City of London and Mr Arthur was suspended and then sacked following the incident, after an investigation by outside accountants Grant Thornton.
In the case which is currently ongoing, Mr Arthur said he was not able to follow anti-money laundering rules when he accepted the cash because of the king’s status. The bank has since cleared the King of any wrongdoing and apologized for their conduct in the entire claim.
But all these were more or less of no significance at the airport as the Otumfuo received a heroic welcome.
National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku and other bigwigs of the party were at the Kumasi airport on Thursday to welcome Otumfuo Osei Tutu II from his trip to Brazil.
Notable persons included Deputy Director of the National Service Scheme, Henry Nana Boakye and Stephen Amoah, Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) among other party officials.
