Though West Ham have recently issued a statement defending themselves against racism accusations, former player Diafra Sakho has said that the club don’t want black players there.
Named by the now-suspended sporting director, Tony Henry, as a trouble maker, Sakho had a few choice words of his own.
“They lie to people, they pretend I am bad because I have character,” he said on his Snapchat account, published by Sportsmail.
“I am a lion, they were afraid and now everyone will see why I wanted to leave this club.
“I’ll teach all the fans what’s true: that they don’t want black players.
“One by one we will leave, so good luck to all the fans of West Ham, because soon the truth will come out, I believe in justice.”
Henry had previously admitted to the Daily Mail that African players “cause chaos” and “sometimes they may have a bad attitude,” which led to his suspension.
The Hammers’ PR machine has been working overtime, and the east London club were keen to draw a line under the furore.
“The West Ham United family is an inclusive family in which, regardless of gender, age, ability, race, religion or sexual orientation, everyone feels welcome and included,” a statement read.
