President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the District Chief Executive for Garu-Tempane in the Upper East Region, Emmanuel Asore Avoka, has been given an overwhelming confirmation by the Assembly.
Mr Avoka, a teacher, polled 36 out of the 43 votes, representing 86 per cent, the Electoral Commission announced at Tuesday’s confirmation election.
He called for peaceful co-existence in order to attract investors and development partners to the district, while reaffirming the commitment of the Akufo-Addo-led government to fulfilling the New Patriotic Party 2016 campaign promises. The DCE assured the people he would work with all the members irrespective of their political affiliation for the betterment of the area.
He mentioned security, agriculture and education as the three key areas he would prioritise in line with the President’s vision.
Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Ayine Bukari, thanked the assembly members for what he termed “one-touch” confirmation, and urged them to collaborate with the DCE to develop the area for the interest of all.
Earlier, the minister called on the assembly members to vote massively for the nominee to push through the one-village, one-dam and the one-district, one-factory agenda, as well as the one million dollar for each constituency in the country.
