President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive for Talensi in the Upper East Region, Christopher Boatbil Someteima, has been rejected by assembly members.
Mr Someteima failed to secure the two-thirds majority votes in Monday’s confirmation election.
Out of a total of 30 votes, the nominee polled 19 votes with 10 voting against his nomination while one vote was rejected.
Mr Someteima’s votes represents 63.3 per cent, 3.7 per cent short of the required number to have passed him.
Separately, there is tension brewing in East Mamprusi District in the Northern Region as the Local Government Minister is reported to have ordered a rerun of elections following the rejection of the president’s nominee.
Abdul Nasir Danladi is said to have received less than the required number to pass as DCE.
