Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has said Gender Minister, Otiko Afisah Djaba, and the NPP’s Northern regional Chairman, Bugri Naabu must face suspension from the party over their recent public altercations.
According to Kweku Baako, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Council failed to apply the appropriate sanctions against the duo on the shameful incident they were involved in.
The party’s second highest decision-making body, the National Council reprimanded the two Thursday at the meeting and bonded them to be of good behaviour.
But Speaking on News Analysis Programme, News File on Accra-based Joy FM, Mr. Baako said the two leaders of the party deserve suspension from the party to serve as a deterrent.
“In this case it’s these people who have come to tell us that they’re apologizing. It’s softer if you compare to what…I think suspension maybe would have been more useful. Because we shouldn’t forget, Otiko has a dual role, so the party level, but now the party has taken a decision that she should exit not because of this matter, but generally reorganizing the party structure. So that is not a sanction in terms of the conduct.
Bugri is Regional Chairman. He can be sanctioned; he can be suspended. In their own constitution is there. I think that is a better option than him apologizing.”
