Supreme Court judge, Justice Sophia Akuffo has been confirmed by President Nana Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s next Chief Justice.
He vouched for her integrity and the depth of her law which he said must have informed the decision of President Jerry John Rawlings to appoint her to the Supreme Court in 1995.
Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood is retiring this June after 10 years as the head of the Judiciary.
She was the first female Chief Justice and will be replaced by another lady, Justice Akuffo if Parliament approves her.
The president praised his nominee Chief Justice for her diligence and discipline.
As his first junior partner, the president said he has known Justice Akuffo for forty years.
