The revenue generation of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly has witnessed tremendous growth in 2018, Mrs Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson, the Municipal Chief Executive has observed.
She said the Assembly raked in GH¢1,311,830.27 fund internally from January to July this year, and commended revenue collectors for the achievement and assured taxpayers that the Assembly would continue to ensure judicious use of the funds for their benefit.
Mrs Kumi-Richardson expressed the optimism with compliance from traders and taxpayers and said the Assembly would be able to meet its 2018 revenue target of GH¢2,360,913.87.
Addressing the second town hall meeting organized by the Assembly in Sunyani, the Municipal Chief Executive said tax payment was a civic right and evaders would be prosecuted as well.
Mrs Kumi-Richardson said it was only when people paid their rates and taxes that the Assembly could generate enough resources to provide their development needs, explaining that the Assembly had formed a tax force and it would soon intensify enforcement on revenue collection.
The town hall meeting paved the way for the city authorities to render operational accounts to the public and explained some government policies and programmes to them.
Mrs Kumi-Richardson advised residents in the Sunyani Municipality to promote environmental cleanliness and the dumping of waste into refuse containers.
