Despite government’s commitment to make education free in the country, the Aputuogya Junior High School (JHS) in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region is in deplorable state requiring urgent attention from the central government.
Authorities of the school say several letters have been written to inform the district Education Directorate and the Member of Parliament (MP) in the constituency, Yaw Adu-Twum but no step has been taken to remedy the situation ever since.
Mynewsgh.com visited the school and took pictures of the dilapidated classroom block showing naked electrical cables and half-roofed which is on the verge of collapse posing danger to the lives of both students and teachers.
The students explained to this reporter how their classrooms get flooded each time it rains adding their voices to calls for support through the Assembly man of the area. Kwame Agyei.
The Assemblyman revealed to have had several discussions with the MP who doubles as the deputy Education Minister yielding no positive result.
The authorities of the school made a passionate appeal to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah who is a past student of the school to come to their aid.
