Celebrated broadcaster and board chairman of the National Communications Authority (NCA) Kwaku Sakyi-Addo has condemned the sharing of lifeless images of the late songstress Ebony on social media.
Facebook and various WhatsApp platforms are awash with photos of the ‘Maame hwe’ singer and the two other victims of the gory road crash.
The insensitive images include the remains of the singer at the Bechem government hospital where they were taken to after the accident.
In a tweet on the development, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Telecom chamber said: “Why take such pleasure in hurting the sensibilities of families who’re already hurting? What’s your gain in their pain? Have you ever seen images of any of the victims of terrorism in London, Paris, Belgium or US? Come on, people, stop it. It’s backward. Grow up. Mature. Civilize!”
I’ve just seen a photo of the body of Ebony posted on a WhatsApp forum I’m on. I saw the blurred image and didn’t open it. I promptly deleted it. Now, when will Ghanaians stop circulating these gory pictures of accident victims?

Ebony, 20, died in a motor crash at Bechem in the Brong Ahafo region during the wee hours of Friday. Two other occupants on board a Jeep with registration number AS 497—16 from Sunyani also died in the head-on collision.
