The Northern Regional Branch of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has urged for calm among Tamale-based Serial Callers and communicators in the region as the party assures that steps are being taken to appoint some of them[angry communicators] into government positions.
The group earlier gave a one week ultimatum that it’s members would stop defending the governing party in the region, if they are still denied jobs in government.
Members of the group were livid that their contributions to the party’s 2016 election campaigns have so far not been appreciated, hence their call to boycott working for the party in the interim.
However, the NPP in the region said eventhough members of the communication team seem to be frustrated over the slow pace in getting them appointed, the party has not neglected them assuring that plans were afoot to resolve their concerns shortly.
Sule Salifu, the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP told Accra-based Citi FM they are currently arranging for them to be considered into government positions.
“We are on course to enable members of our communication team have one or two positions to serve in the Akufo-Addo regime. I have personally met them and I have told them areas where some communicators can be put in and I’m sure that steps are being taken to bring that to fruition.
“Now what I want to strongly protest against is to give the President an ultimatum. We are here with them, we are interacting with the Flagstaff House and the Ministers on their behalf. And I say that issuing an ultimatum to the President was out of the way and we should desist from that.
But let me assure them that the Regional Executives and the Regional Communication Director are on top of issues and very soon the objectives of the communication team would be realized shortly, so they should exercise patience and cooperate with us.
We have Ministers now in the region, we have MCEs in the region, and as we speak now we are going to have meeting with the Regional Minister and his Deputy, and the MCEs and these are some of the issues that we are going to consider so that our communicators will have a serene atmosphere to continue to perform their duties on radio and other places of communication.”
