A security analyst, Nana Owusu Sekyere has urged the Police Service to stop covering up and protecting wrong activities by their own men in an attempt to save their image.
According to Owusu Sekyere, the police administration’s spirited defence against media reports in the media that a police officer allegedly stripped a taxi driver naked for jumping a red light is unfortunate.
The victim, Kwabena Danso, was allegedly stripped naked in public by Gabriel Tabiri, the police man stationed at the Anyaa Police Station.
However the police after some investigations concluded the taxi driver stripped himself naked in his bid to avoid arrest and for public sympathy.
Nana Owusu Sekyere commenting on the issue in an interview with Abusu FM’s Osei Kwadwo urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Apeatu to ensure an independent investigation in to the matter.
He said, “I don’t know why a taxi driver without any provocation will strip himself naked like a mad person and I think the IGP must as a matter of public interest institute independent investigations in the matter.”
