The governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) says it is regrettable that some politicians are politicizing the horrific murder of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama.
The opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) in an earlier release had blamed the lynching of the Army Officer on what they said was the lawlessness created by the Akufo-Addo government.
But the Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu has condemned the politicization of the murder of Captain Adam Mahama, saying any such politicization will shift focus from the real issues that needed to be dealt with.
Addressing a news conference Monday June 5, 2017 in Accra, Boadu said:”The country is still mourning the death of Captain Adam Mahama, and as a such we wish to once again express our condolences to the bereaved family…Having taken a serious view of all that has happened regarding this unfortunate incident, we mourn with the family and we’ll never play politics with the death of such an innocent soul. We hope that other political parties will also refrain from playing politics with the painful death of a fellow citizen.”
He hinted that government will be meeting today, Monday, to take a “decision and announce” the plans that the state has for the late captain Mahama’s family.
Captain Mahama will be laid to rest Friday June 9, 2017.
The deceased was brutally murdered by locals of Denkyira Boase in the Central region after he was allegedly mistaken as an armed robber.
He was with the 5 Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Armed Forces, Burma Camp, Accra but on detachment duties at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central region where he was lynched by a mob.
