Minutes after it was announced the ‘Ojuelebgba‘ act took home the Best International Act: Africa award, the former took to Micro blogging site Twitter to send his well-wishes. Congrats to @wizkidayo On the Win #BET2017 BestIntlAfricanAct well deserved!! wrote the ‘Come From Far‘ act.
Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy failed to achieve his dream of winning a second Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award.
The ‘Migraine‘ act lost the 2017 edition of the Best International Act: Africa award at the awards scheme to Nigerian artiste WizKid.
Mr. Eazi, Davido, AKA, Nasty C, Babes Wodumo and Tekno were the other nominees in the Africa category.
The winner was announced during the BET Awards International, the ceremony before the main event held to announce winners in the Best International Act: Africa and Europe categories.
The awards scheme celebrates the accomplishments of African-Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports and other fields of entertainment over the past year. It was established in 2001.
The main event will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, United States of America, and will be hosted by comedian Leslie Jones.
Bruno Mars, Mary J. Blige, Gucci Mane, Chris Brown, Big Sean, Trey Songz, DJ Khaled, Future and Maxwell are some of the artistes scheduled to perform on the night.
