The Award Winning Dancehall Artist Stonebwoy is on a two-day tour of some farming communities in the Volta region to inspire young persons into agriculture.
The two-day tour of the BET Award winning Artist is part of his role as an ambassador for MASO; an innovative program by Solidaridad targeted at providing career opportunities for the youth in cocoa growing communities in Ghana.
The MASO project is being spearheaded by Solidaridad; an NGO committed to youth empowerment and sustainable development of farmers and food production systems.
In partnership with a consortium consisting MasterCard Foundation, Overseas Development Institute, Global Communities, NCBA-CLUSA and GOAL, Solidaridad is engaging over 4700 young farmers across five regions in the country; exposing them to opportunities in the Cocoa sector and arming them to be enterprising.
Speaking at a community durbar in Akome-Gborta in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, the Director for Solidaridad West Africa, Mr Isaac Gyamfi said the organization’s interventions would among other things provide sustainable jobs to communities and equip the youth with employable skills.
The project ambassador, Stonebwoy encouraged the youth to take up the opportunities that abound the project to develop themselves and their communities.
He is expected to visit the various farms of the young farmers in the beneficiary communities of Ho West, Afadjato South and Hohoe Districts.
