The Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), a non-profit organisation committed to helping vulnerable children, last week announced the opening of its First Casa Herbalife programme in Ghana in partnership with SOS Children’s Village, Tema.
HFF is providing $10,000 towards the nutritional support of the children cared for by SOS Children’s Villages this year and aims to support the organisation in future with annual grants.
Established in 1974, SOS Children’s Villages Ghana supports orphans and other vulnerable children who have been abandoned or are at risk of being abandoned.
It provides a loving home to children who are given quality care by SOS parents in individual family homes in its four villages in Ghana and also runs various projects under its Family Strengthening Programme.
The aim of SOS Children’s Villages Ghana is to ensure that every child belongs to a family and is nurtured with love, respect and security.
The organisation relies heavily on the generosity of the public to continue its operations in serving unprivileged children.
The grant provided by HFF will help to create a better environment by supporting the renovation of the family kitchens and tools to support the development of the children in its Tema Village.
To celebrate the launch of this new Casa Herbalife, twelve Independent Herbalife Nutrition Members from Ghana, from the various cities of the country visited SOS Children’s Villages in Tema and hosted a nutrition day.
In a relaxed and fun environment, Herbalife Nutrition Members interacted with the children and showed them the value of good nutrition and how to lead healthy active lifestyles.
Herbalife Nutrition Member Millionaire Team Evans Obour said: “It was a privilege to be here today to see how our funding and volunteerism can assist these children in getting good nutrition which helps them in their development.”
“HFF was established in 1994 and is committed to improving the lives of children around the world by supporting charitable organisations that provide one of life’s most basic necessities – good nutrition. Our Casa Herbalife Programme provides millions of dollars in funding and volunteer assistance each year to more than 130 organisations worldwide.
“These funds bring nutrition to more than 100,000 children in over 50 countries on a daily basis. On behalf of all the Herbalife Nutrition Members and staff who have raised funds to make this donation possible, I would like to welcome SOS Children’s Village, Tema into our Casa Herbalife Family,” said Fred Amissah, Herbalife Nutrition Ghana Country Director.
