A resident of Adenta, Steve Acheampong, has emerged as the winner of the first edition of the ‘Shop n Save’ raffle campaign named “Win a Car” promo, to reward its customers.
‘Shop n Save’, a community-based retail supermarket presented a brand new Hyundai Accent as the ultimate prize to Mr Acheampong in Accra.
Among other winners include Aba who won a 42 inch LED television set and GHC 400 worth of hamper, Angelawho took away a microwave and a GHC400 worth of hamper and John Daku who grabbed a standing fan and GHC 300 worth of hamper, for 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively.
The rest are Adobea, Freddy Wood, Kojo, David, Bernard Adjei and Gina, who won, GHC 200, GHC 150, GHC 150, GHC 150, GHC 150 worth of shopping voucher, for 5th, 6th, 7th , 8th, 9th and 10th, respectively.
In an interview with the media Mr Michael Chambers, Managing Director for Shop n Save, emphasized that this was the first of its kind in Ghana, where a retail supermarket gave away a motor vehicle to its customer.
He said the promotion was designed to rewards its customers for their loyalty and support, bring in new customers and as well get the customers to increase their purchases at the Shop n Save branches.
Mr. Chambers said the suppliers supported the company in that regard, whereas, its staff created the enthusiasm and a conducive environment for customers.
He further said the promotion run for a period of two months and it ended on 14th May, adding that “ so this is the reason we having the grand finale today, to select the ultimate winner as well give out some consolation prizes”.
The Managing Director said customers were required to purchase products at any of the branches, whereby a minimum of GHC 50 would qualify a customer to be part of the draw.
Mr Chambers said they accumulated all the names and the National Lotteries Authority supervised the process to ensure that the draw is transparent.
Mr Ohene Gyan Appiah, a representative of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) who supervised the draw said the Authority is the only government institution mandated to regulate and supervise such draws.
He explained that to ensure that the right procedures in selecting winners are used; anybody who wants to do promotions should subject their processes for verifications and fairness under the authority of the National Lotteries.
He said that 4858 customers qualified to take part in the draw, as such; NLA’s role is to protect the interest of these customers.
He said with the verifications, what they intend to check is that prizes and not given to staff members of the company, family members or cronies, but the customers who qualified to be part of the promotion.
‘Shop n Save’ Supermarket deals in both local and internationally product, ranging from household consumables like fresh vegetables, cereals, fresh meat, fresh bakery, fast foods, grains, drinks and detergents.
