Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is ready to be a part of Ghana Music Awards.
He told George Quaye on The Pundits on GhOneTV, he is ready to resolve his issues with CharterHouse, organizer of the awards scheme.
Some three years ago, Wale decided to boycott the show and warned the organizers against nominating him in any category.
Read below our report in 2016 about the situation between CharterHouse and Shatta Wale.
Dancehall Muscian Shatta Wale faces being banned for a good number of years by organizers of the Ghana Music Awards.
Livefmghana.com sources say a decision has been reached and should be communicated to the artiste and general public.
“They must have taken a decision by now so i am sure they will get to tell us something in hours or in the next few days, ” a source, who was once active in Ghana’s music space and has years of industry expertise projected Tuesday.
Two years ago, the ‘Kakai’ hitmaker warned the awards scheme against nominating any of his works. On the night of the show last year, he headlined a concert at the beach, supported by Sarkodie, who also had his own issues with CharterHouse.
Even though Shatta Wale had a good year in 2015, there has been a lot of debate as to whether he should be awarded by the music body he called all sorts of derogatory names.
His fans have in recent days called for a boycott of headline sponsors Vodafone, should their ‘idol’ not get any nominations. Wale submitted his works a fortnight ago.
Shatta Wale’s disagreement with CharterHouse started when he lost out on a dancehall category award to Kaakie in 2013. He insulted both the company and Kaakie, later recording a song in which he claimed he didn’t need any award.
He also recorded videos in which he called CharterHouse and its CEO names, leading to the former being sued.
Months down the line, he apologized to CharterHouse, its CEO and Samini after the birth of his son asking they start their relationships altogether and on a ‘fresh’ page.
