The leadership of Ghana Actors Guild has paid a visit to ailing actor and comedian Asonaba Kwaku Darko aka Super OD at his residence at Agona Swedru in the Central Region of Ghana. Super OD is said to be suffering from severe health conditions making him unable to walk.
The veteran actor who has been off our screens revealed earlier in March 2017, that he is seriously ill. Interacting with the media, the actor had explained how his knees have grown to be weak making it difficult for him to walk. Though the diagnosis of his ailment has not been made known to the public, Super OD has been receiving help from Ghanaians.
The Actors’ Guild which comprised The President Samuel Fiscian, Welfare Officer Kalsoume Sinare, Secretary Ziggy Netteyson, Mikki Osei Berko among others, presented a mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of money to Super OD.
Although Asonaba is not a member of the guild, the association deemed it fit to commiserate with him, as he has paid his dues to the Ghanaian movie industry.
At the mini event, the Actors Guild President Samuel Fiscian also said that Super OD was not the first aged actors they had visited. According to him, they have visited Ashanti Region, Volta Region, Western Region and the Central Region to donate same items to aged actors and register them as members of the Ghana Actors Guild.
Prior to the Actors’ Guild donation, the actor also received a donation from Agona East MP, Queentar Pokuah Sawyerr. While touring her constituency earlier this month, The MP who was touched by the actor’s state of health paid him a visit and presented some assorted items including electronic wheelchair and an amount of cash.
