The Savelugu/Nantong Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu has today [Wednesday] been officially inducted into office under heavy security guard.
A joint task-force from the Regional Security Council and the Municipal Security Committee escorted Hajia Ayishetu to her office.
This is to enable her assume her lawful civic position as the Savelugu/Nantong Municipal Chief Executive.
The decision was arrived at after several hours of deliberations on the political stalemate over protests against her appointment and subsequent confirmation.
Citifmonline.com checks revealed that, there will be a permanent joint military and police rapid response squad at the precincts of the Municipal Assembly complex.
The Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed and his Deputy, Solomon Boa, were not part of the team that inducted her into office.
The Assembly complex for some time had been under lock and key because core staff were frightened.
It would be recalled that some NPP executives in both the Savelugu and the Nantong constituencies joined forces with some angry party youth in protest against Hajia Ayishetu Seidu’s portfolio.
Three demonstrations have so far been organised.
This situation influenced the Regional Security Council and the Savelugu/Nantong Municipal Security Committee’s decision to maintain law and order there.
It is yet unknown what the protesters’ next line of action would be, but some concerned citizens of the area have called for sanity to prevail there.
