We bet so many people are wishing to be in Samira Bawumia’s shoes. Ghana’s second lady paid a visit to the popular telenovela Kumkum Bhagya crew in India.

Kumawood And Ghallywood: A Look At the Distinctions and Similarities
While in India Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice President Dr. Muhammad Bawumia deemed it fit to go see the makers of Ghana’s favorite TV show. It is rumored that the Second Lady is the number one Ghanaian Kumkum Bhagya fan in Ghana and therefore decided to express her admiration to the crew and send them a strong message that Ghanaians are strongly behind the Indian movie industry.
Samira’s visit became known after Shivani (the character Pammi in the series) posted a photo of herself together with the Second Lady on Instagram with the caption: “It was an honor and a pleasure to meet the Second Lady of Ghana @sbawumia”
Kumkum Bhagya is the love story of Abhishek Mehra and Pragya Arora. Sarla Arora, who runs a marriage hall, lived with the hope of seeing her two daughters happily married.
The show follows the lives of the two daughters of Sarla and their hopes, dreams and aspirations. Initially, the series followed a love triangle between Pragya, Bulbul and Suresh, where Pragya loved Suresh, who had feelings for Bulbul, leading to Pragya and Suresh’s engagement getting canceled.
Samira’s visit to the Indian crew, as a matter of fact, did not augur well with a section of the Ghanaian public. These people are of the view that photos of the Second Lady’s visit was in a way endorsing the long-running Indian soap opera to the detriment of Ghanaian local movies.
Local movie producer, Ola Kwaku Michael was of the view that Samira Bawumia’s endorsement of the foreign series was enough to kill the already dying local movie industry. The photos he said will also cripple calls to cancel such foreign soaps. This endorsement he said would mean nothing as they have received the government’s approval with the picture.
