School pupils of Sakote Kindergarten (KG) in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region who studied virtually under trees will now have a sigh of relief after Action Aid Ghana commissioned a two classroom complex for them.
The fenced two classroom block furnished with furniture has mechanized borehole, toilet and play ground facilities valued at GHC150, 000.00.
Speaking at the commissioning of the school, Country Director of Action Aid Ghana, Sumalia Abdul-Rahman said, the facility will help in assisting the children release their full academic potentials.
He urged parents to enroll their children of school going age to the school especially the girl child in order that, they do not fall prey to child marriage and teenage pregnancy.
He appealed to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to take proper care of the facility especially payment of electricity bills and maintenance of the mechanized borehole.
Headteacher of Sakote primary school, Mr. James Puperaba Kwabil expressed gratitude for the intervention by Action Aid Ghana but added that, the two classroom block could not accommodate the over three hundred pupils at the K. G level and appealed for more support from other NGOs.
He entreated that, his outfit together with community members will commit to the maintenance of the school.
Meanwhile Action Aid Ghana has also completed another Early Child Day Care facility at Kotentabig and will soon be handed over for use.
