Dismissed Medical Director of the Ridge Hospital, Dr. Thomas Anaba says the move by the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu demanding him to vacate his post clearly renders him a “victim of abuse of Power”.
He explained that the Health Minister failed to perform a thorough background check on him before terminating his contract since he sought to base his reason on the advice of a contractor who claimed he (Dr. Anaba) failed to champion his course.
“The Minister said it was the contractor working at the Ridge Hospital who advised him that I was incompetent so I should be removed,” he alleged.
“How can a construction company advise a Minister on whom to appoint head of a hospital? Is it because I was insisting on them to procure all the needed equipment for the Ridge Hospital contract?” he quizzed.
Dr. Anaba, who was appointed in 2016, was given his marching orders by the Public Services Commission on Monday, May 15, 2017, three years short of the expiration of his term.
Although no reasons were given, the letter said the directive was from the Health Minister who has subsequently appointed Dr. Anaba’s predecessor, Emmanuel Kwabla Srofenyoh.
Speaking in an interview with host of the Gold Power Drive, Samuel Eshun Monday, Dr. Anaba said he believes the Minister acted illegally thus his resolve to go to court.
He stressed that he is not ready to adopt a position which will endanger service delivery at the Ridge Hospital even if he is asked to return.
“I only want the truth to be told. However my lawyers have served them (Ministry of Health) letters to respond to rescind their decision or they meet us in court.” he asserted.
