Many are asking but few are receiving. Many are calling yet there is no answer. Some have given up, others are pressing on.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want,” Scripture said, but there are needs that are still not met you might say. David didn’t lack, he believed God for the things he wanted. Yet today even the needs of many supposed new creation believers are unmet. What do you think is the problem? Has God stopped being kind? Is there a shortage in heaven? Or maybe there is an economic crunch in heaven?
Obviously not.
Ephesians 3:20, “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.”
It is not that God cannot give unto us what we have been asking for. He can far more abundantly provide everything we ask for but it is according to the power at work within us. Many people scream this scripture in frenzy. Many become emotional when reciting this scripture, without careful meditation on what it actually means.
The phrase to note in this statement is: “according to the power at work within us.” What does this mean? The Greek translation of the word “power” used in this scripture is “dunamis” which means ability, strength or force.
Dunamis can be miraculous power which many have only associated the word with.
It could also be the power of wisdom, or knowledge or strength. It is an inherent ability in you.
What ability is in you? What force is driving you? What if God provide the things you ask for? When we ask for money God won’t rain money. This is the truth. God provides through us not to us. Mighty works are done through us.
The ability to work miracles is within you but we don’t work miracles every day to put food on the table. Jesus didn’t turn the stone to bread, he broke a corn.
I just want to bring your mind to something we fail to consider in our Christian walk. Imagine God doesn’t stop you from farming or gathering enough knowledge or strength for your profession. Imagine God doesn’t stop you from reading or schooling. He needs that ability or force in you to abundantly provide your needs.
The Lord is not against work and skill.
Exodus 35:35
“He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.”
God needed skilled men for the construction of the tabernacle. The tabernacle didn’t just appear by some miraculous power. Men worked to build it. He raised men of skill himself by filling them with the knowledge and wisdom of craftsmanship.
Today many Christians are lazy to read and learn from the Bible. They want everything to happen by magic so many have become beggars. Paul realized this lazy attitude of some believers in the church of Thessalonia and advised that the hand that would not work should not eat.
2 Thessalonians 3:10-11
“For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies.”
God doesn’t rain food for the lazy man. God will not walk to the Toyota garage. The children of the world have become shrewder than the children of light. Knowledge is from God and every ability is in Him. Engineering, medicine, wisdom of Law and governance, mathematics, carpentry, weaving, and any form of craftsmanship.
As a pastor, I will go for a trained administrator to manage my company not a school drop out in my church. Just think about it. I will employ a skilled carpenter to build me a chair not a lazy believer who wants to pray for chairs to appear by magic.
There should be something in you. An ability inside you for God to use. The church need all these men to take over society. To support the ministry with their influence and finances.
Gold and silver are for God but who has them in their cabinets? You always say it, but you have not seen or touch gold before. Those who need gold are into mining. King Solomon had mines and traded in gold. Gold didn’t rain in his palace.
There is much available for you before God but you lack them because you are lazy. Get up and study. Learn a trade or go to school. Acquire knowledge. Read and perfect your skill. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Your advantage over the people of the world is the Holy Ghost. He will lead you to all knowledge and help you go through it. As you pray and work, the Lord conspire things in your Favour. You win every day with your endeavors, not your idleness.
