“I am very anxious that we should always remember that the school is not confined to the over ninety acres that comprise her grounds her grounds. She lives wherever they live who once lived here. Their influence on the life of the country is her influence’’. – Rev. A. S. Fenby (adow bir, 1937).
The formation of MOBA by our predecessors was an act both of gratitude for past experiences and a faith in the possibility of a future Mfantsipim that was better than what they had left. It was a commitment that students in perpetuity should be able to share the unique and remarkable experiences available only in Mfantsipim.
In line with the tradition of Year Groups becoming members of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) ten (10) years after leaving Mfantsipim, the MOBA 2007 year group will be formally inaugurated on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Asbury Dunwell Chapel (Wesley House- Methodist Church Ghana Headquarters. The newly aged old boys, that is, the members of the MOBA 2007 will formally be welcome fully into the MOBA fraternity at 1pm by Ebusuapayin Capt. Paul Forjoe.
The theme carefully chosen to guide the new MOBAs in their endeavors will be – ‘A Journey Of Transformation: Resounding the Mfantsipim Spirit’. The theme stems from the mindset of the pioneers driven by such attitudes, such apt declarations of spiritual awareness, awakened their latent energies, making them conscious of the qualitative nudges that distinguished activity from passivity, innovation from deprivation, and excellence from decadence. Great people are known and appreciated for the seeds they plant in wider spheres; they propel mankind to higher standards of thinking and living.
As the differential between Mfantsipim and other second cycle institutions in Ghana is determined in the main by the support that old boys give to the school,we need a strong and efcient MOBA National to have a unique Mfantsipim – the Mfantsipim that we recognize, associate with and are proud of – anticipating, foreseeing and planning for the future as per the school’s motto: Dwen Hwe Kan!
To grace the occasion will be Professor David Ofori-Adjei (MOBA 67). Prof. Ofori-Adjei has worked in infectious diseases for over 30 years, his major interests being malaria, schistosomiasis, and rational drug use. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Ghana Medical Journal and serves on the Editorial Committee of the Lancet Infectious Diseases and the Global Public Health journal. He has also been a Director of the World Association of Medical Editors and a member of the Council of Science Editors. He is also involved in an initiative that seeks to improve the quality of African medical journals through the Forum of African Medical Editors (FAME) and the African Journals Partnership Project.
“In a few years, the people of this country will be amazed at the number of its influential citizens who owe allegiance to this School….” – Rev R. A. Lochart, Headmaster (1925-1936)
