Newly crowned WBO Super Bantamweight Champion Isaac ‘The Royal Storm’ Dogboe should not let his hunger for more success waned, former President Jerry John Rawlings has advised.
The 23-year-old Ghanaian boxer dealt an 11th round technical knock-out (TKO) to American Jessie Magdaleno on Saturday April 28.
The two went into the bout at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with enviable unbeaten records, but the Ghanaian ended the American’s record.
Former President Rawlings who has been a great fan of Dogboe took to twitter to congratulate the boxer.
The former president acknowledged that the young boxer was able to chalk that feat through perseverance.
“Congrats champion Isaac Dogboe. Hard work and perseverance leads to success. You’ve made Ghana proud. You have to sustain that hunger in order to emulate the greatest, Azumah Nelson! #dogboeworldchampion,” Mr. Rawlings tweeted on Sunday.
Isaac Dogbe broke Ike Quartey’s record set in 1994, when he annexed the WBA Welterweight title at 25 years after beating Venezuelan Crisanto Espana.
