The Managing Editor of the Al Hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrissu has revealed that the litany of problems that have bedeviled the country must be blamed on former President Jerry John Rawlings.
“He ruled this country for 19 years and I am telling you that the current problems we are facing must be laid at his doorstep. 19 wasted years he could have done more to develop the country”, he said.
According to him, if the his 19-year rule had been properly used, the country will not be where it is today indicating that the blame game between the Mills, Kufuor and John Mahama regimes would not have existed if he Rawlings was up to the task during his reign.
“While other countries like Malaysia were moving ahead, he kept drawing the development fortunes of the country back. I am not saying he did not do well but he could have done better”, he added.
Alhaji Bature said the fact Rawlings did not steal state money does not mean he can stand integrity test anywhere and has no moral high ground to accuse some persons of lacking that same integrity.
While commending him for not diverting state funds, he warned the former president to be measured by his utterances challenging him to an integrity test.
“He wants to tell us he is a man of integrity but I can assure you that he cannot stand 10% of it.
Did he account to Ghanaians in 2,000 before he left office? He was supposed to give a state of nation address before exiting but he never did it.
Is that what he calls integrity when he failed to account for his stewardship”, he asked on Adom TV.
