Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings has admonished executives and members of the party to pay the cost of party unity ahead of the 2020 elections if they desire to win back power.
He mentioned the ingredients of the price as truthfulness, integrity and sincerity, urging them do away with the propaganda way of doing politics as they face opposition in preparation for future elections.
Addressing the 25th Anniversary Rally of the NDC at Ashaiman, he appealed to all to live in unity he said is the prerequisite to staying focused and winning back power but said this must be done devoid of peddling falsehood.
The Former President restated facts that accounted for the disgraceful defeat of the party in the December 7, 2016 polls including heightening corruption, greed and selfishness under leadership of John Dramani Mahama.
These he observed were in variance to the values upheld by the NDC in concert with the ideals of June 4 which celebrated its 38th Anniversary.
Former President John Dramani Mahama on his part, appealed to members of the party to stop apportioning blames over who is responsible for the party’s defeat at the polls indicating that the blame game is inimical to the party’s resolve to win back power in 2020.
An anniversary cake was cut in commemoration of the two and half decades existence of the party and in attendance were both former Presidents of the NDC, former ministers of states, former MMDCEs, former MPs, party executive and supporters.
