Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has faulted the Appointments Committee of Parliament for its inability to ask the Chief Justice designate, Justice Sophia Akuffo, thorough questions when she was vetted last Friday.
He argued the Committee members could have done basic research on the processes of the law courts before the vetting of the nominee.
Mr. Kpebu was not happy about the slow processes in the court, noting it was not sufficient for the Chief Justice nominee to say that she would use technology to improve the situation at the courts without given specifics.
Lawyer Martin Kpebu spoke to Winston Amoah Host of Sunrise Morning Show on 3FM 92.7.
On the issue of touting and advertising in the law profession, Mr. Kpebu Insisted the law must be revised to enable prospective clients have information to make informed decisions and choices as practiced in Kenya and other parts of the world.
“If the generality of the society wants it, it is prudent we look at the law again. It is part of rendering justice to the people” He added.
Speaking on the overall performance of the nominee, Mr. Martin Kpebu, praised her as being intelligent woman but was very brief in her answers without given specifics.
